Based on 1960's popular spy-comedy TV series.
Set in 1963, when Cold War tension rises,
CIA agent and former thief Napoleon Solo (Henry Cavill)
and KGB top agent Illya Kuryakin (Armie Hammer) with the help of the daughter of the vanished Nazi
scientist Gaby Teller (Alicia Vikander) must stop the evil plan of an evil organization led by
Victoria Vinciguerra (Elizabeth Debicki) who wants to conquer the world by starting nuclear war.
The Man from Uncle is such a fresh TV series adaptation. It has a great ensemble casts like Cavill, Hammer, Vikander, Debicki, and Grant. The 60's settings is really great. The editing and the cinematography is well paced and nice. Although the characterization and the plot seems less that we were expecting from the trailer. It has a really complicated plot and the characterization seems not so deep because it is a popcorn action movie. However it's still a guilty pleasure summer movie and it's recommended for all of you who love retro-spy movies. Our rating: 3.4/5
